Shannon has been one busy artist… it’s amazing how she’s been able to find the time to create so many wonderful paintings for her latest show TRANSITIONS. She has been to New England, then back home, then she headed to Maine to paint with a group from Plein Air Painters of the Southeast (PAPSE), where they painted on Monhegan Island and in Boothbay. After all that painting Shannon was part of a show at Coco Vivo Gallery in Boothbay Harbor, ME. Here are a few of her photos and the paintings that resulted…

Shannon and Clay headed to Nantucket, MA for a long weekend in July… Shannon took some photos so that she had inspiration to paint the beautiful location she just left! Just look at this sky!

This scene is so New England. What a wonderful place!  JAWS was written in this house! What a perfect setting to write…

This is one of Shannon’s favorite spots on the island, she has plein air painted at this location before… it’s called Sconset. This looks like an upcoming Shannon painting to me, just look at that light!

The first painting from this trip… “Corner Shadows” – is in the gallery now!

Amazing, right? Shannon’s most recent trip was to paint with a group of artists (Plein Air Painters of the Southeast – PAPSE) in Boothbay for a show at Coco Vivo Gallery. Before heading to Boothbay, a group of artists headed to Monhegan Island, Maine. This is a place artists have flocked to for hundreds of years. Famous artists like Rockwell Kent, N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth, Edward Hopper just to name a few!

Here is a painting Shannon did of the shipwreck on Monhegan at Lobster Cove… Those of you who have been there know what it looks like, it’s amazing to see how she captured it and gave it such character!

After departing on the ferry from Monhegan, it was off to Boothbay, ME to get even more painting done! Shannon captures the light incredibly, making each and every painting an exquisite piece!

It takes a lot of skill and practice to have the ability to make a painting interesting, and leave out all the things that don’t add character to the painting… I would say Shannon did a fabulous job with this painting… stunning!

One fabulous painting after another! It turned out to be a fabulous show!

There was a great article written in the Boothbay Register newspaper about the PAPSE group…  a little snippet (click the link to read the article):

“This show was high quality; it made us all want to raise the bar,” McIntyre said. “It was wonderful to meet them all, and, the artists from PAPSE who came here want to come back again.”

We’re already looking forward to next month’s show Surrounded By Water  – stay tuned!
