Last month I featured Jennifer and her trip to California that resulted in some really fabulous paintings! You may remember that I mentioned Betty’s Colorado trip and that she was taking some amazing photos… well wait until you see the paintings that resulted from those photographs! What an inspiring trip this was!

Betty traveled with her husband Cody, her sister Lynn and her husband, Lee, and Lynn’s son, Michael Creech and his wife, Sarah, who live in Denver.  Sounds like a good time was had by all! Remember all the mudslides that you heard about on the news? Well, Betty and the gang traveled through 10 mudslides on the road from Silverton to Ouray. They had to wait for road crews to clear a path. Between mudslides and high mountain passes with sharp drop-offs they were on quite the adventure! How’s that for excitement?

Betty says that this is a future painting! I think she’s a very inspired lady right now!

Colorado as seen through Betty’s eyes… Every single painting is breathtaking and awe inspiring! These paintings are so fresh they’re still on the easel!

Betty’s sister, Lynn captured a few wonderful photos that really make you want to hop on the next plane (thank you Lynn)!

Is this not the coolest town? Welcome to Silverton, CO. What a neat town with cool old buildings! These people aren’t afraid of a little color!

I just have to share a few more of Betty’s photos…

Are these “Betty clouds” or what? This red dirt road isn’t actually a dirt road… its dirt from mudslides the previous day!

Train

On the road from Silverton to Durango, CO. Isn’t this so picturesque? Betty said that this shot was taken on the train, as they rode it the 3.5 hours to Durango… “through the gorge and then up high over it”. It’s called the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Train. Here’s a little info from their website:  The line was constructed to haul silver & gold ore from the San Juan Mountains, but passengers soon realized it was the view that was truly precious. This historic train has been in continuous operation for 131 years, carrying passengers behind vintage steam locomotives and rolling stock indigenous to the line. Relive the sights and sounds of yesteryear for a spectacular journey on board the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Great tip for anyone traveling to Colorado, this sounds like one fabulous event to check out!
