You’re invited to the gallery Friday night to see a selection of new paintings by artist Jennifer Smith Rogers in an exhibition entitled Urban.

The word “urban” is defined as a characteristic of a city or city life. And for this show, Jennifer has captured that “life”—the energy, spirit, and soul of bustling metropolitan areas from downtown Charleston to San Francisco to New York.

“I’m inspired by the exuberance of urban settings,” says Jennifer. “Not just everyone… everything is alive. Be it azaleas adding color to a busy street in spring; the interior of a restaurant filled with diners celebrating the end of a long day; even the façade of a historical building that has seen its city transform over the years—I try to transfer that life and energy to the canvas.”

Urban will be on view at Anglin Smith Fine Art, at 9 Queen Street in Charleston, from June 5 to June 19. There will be an opening reception on Friday, June 5, from 5 – 8pm.
